OLDS — An 86 year-old-woman from Olds is charged with failing to drive in the centre of the traffic lane after a collision that occurred in town on Saturday, June 27.

Olds RCMP Staff Sgt. Jim MacDonald says on that day at about 1 p.m., a Chevrolet Malibu was travelling south on 57th Avenue near 53rd Street “when it suddenly veered right and struck the rear of a parked Hyundai Santa Fe SUV. The collision pushed the unoccupied SUV into a tree.”

Olds RCMP, Olds firefighters and ambulance personnel attended.

MacDonald says both vehicles sustained “significant damage.”

The driver of the Chevrolet was uninjured.

She told police she had become momentarily distracted.
