County issues partial fire ban

Mountain View County issued a partial fire ban on Monday, April 18.

As of that date, it remained in place until further notice.

That ban called for any and all outdoor fires burning at that time to be extinguished and banned the starting of any new ones.

However, fires were allowed in burning barrels, fire pits and outdoor fireplaces found by county officials to be acceptable. Also, operation of barbeques, household fireplaces, and AER (Alberta Energy Regulator) flaring was also allowed.

Fire or fireworks permits were suspended. County officials said no new permits would be issued until the ban had been lifted.
