Brent Williams, the new chief administrative officer for the Town of Olds, was welcomed by councillors during their June 6 meeting. Williams, formerly the chief administrative officer of the County of Minburn, began his new job May. 30. He replaces Michael Merritt, who retired in February after being in the position for about five years.

OLDS — The municipality’s new chief administrative officer (CAO) was welcomed by council during its June 6 policies and priorities meeting.

The town announced the hiring of Brent Williams for the post in March.

The former chief administrative officer of the County of Minburn officially began his new job May 30.

He replaces Michael Merritt, who retired in February after being in the position for about five years.

Deputy mayor Harvey Walsh noted Williams’ presence at the meeting saying he’ll be the town’s CAO “for the next 10 years.”

That sparked some laughter.

“Just saying,” Walsh said.
