Olds participants headed to 55-plus games

Fourteen people from Olds will represent the area and compete on the Zone 2 team at the 55-plus Summer Games being held in Barrhead/Westlock from July 25 to 28.

The Olds participants will compete in swimming, horseshoes, contract bridge, golf, athletics and slo-pitch baseball over the four-day event.

Alf Cadman, the Olds-area representative for Zone 2, said all of the competitors qualified through competition that took place over the last two months.

Most of the participants have competed at previous games.

The Olds contingent is among about 400 people participating as part of the Zone 2 team. Zone 2 stretches from Banff in the west to Hannah in the east and High River in the south to Bowden in the north.

The last summer games were held in Fairview in 2011.
