Olds A's tuning up for season

The Olds Athletics are looking to improve upon last year's semifinal appearance in the Parkland Baseball League with a largely intact squad from last year's team.

About 10 to 14 of the core players have been loosening up indoors and are looking to get on the field shortly, according to Chris Overwater.

β€œFor the most part it's all the guys back from (last) year, probably three or four new guys. It's looking pretty good. We're going to build on last year,” he said.

Overwater said the team is hoping to host a tryout camp shortly β€” if the weather cooperates β€” before the 16-game season is scheduled to get underway on May 17 with a contest against the Innisfail Indians in Innisfail. The team's first home game is scheduled for June 7 against the Carstairs Cubs.
