Grizzlys trade last year's leading scorer

The Olds Grizzlys have traded Matt Marcinew, who led the team in scoring last season, to the Brooks Bandits in exchange for forward Tyson McAllum.

McAllum was then dealt to the Grande Prairie Storm for future considerations.

Marcinew had expressed interest in playing in the United States Hockey League for the 2013-14 season.

In order to get some compensation for losing Marcinew, he was traded to the Bandits.

“There are no hard feelings between Marcinew and the organization, we are just happy to have been a stepping stone in his career,” said Brett Hopfe, the Grizzlys' head coach.

Marcinew scored 33 goals last year and tallied 25 assists.
