DIDSBURY — Local Mounties are asking the public for help finding a missing male suspect, but are also advising people not to approach him.
At about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, members of the Didsbury RCMP detachment responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle near Westcott Hall in Mountain View County.
“Upon arrival, the driver of this vehicle fled from police, but not before he was identified by officers as Joseph Aubut,” said police in a press release issued today (Thursday, June 30).
As the 35-year-old fled the scene, police said he drove directly toward officers, along the way narrowly missing a civilian bystander.
Multiple attempts to locate and apprehend Aubut have so far not been met with success, police said.
“As there is a concern for public safety, Didsbury RCMP are seeking public assistance in locating wanted Joseph Jerry Aubut,” reads a portion of the release.
He is wanted for 52 offences, many of which include crimes against persons such as assault, harassing communications, intimidation, as well as flight from police.
Aubut has been described by police as have a light skin complexion with brown hair and eyes, standing at approximately 1.55 metres (5-foot, 10-inches) tall and weighing 77.1 kilograms (170 pounds).
Anyone with information regarding Aubut’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Didsbury RCMP at 403-335-3382 or their local department.
“Do not approach him,” caution police.
