DIDSBURY - A Didsbury man is facing 42 criminal charges, including possession of a prohibited weapon, following his arrest in Coronation on Wednesday, say police.

Kristopher Ronald Neergaard, 52, was arrested by members of the RCMP’s Southern Alberta Emergency Response Team, with the assistance from the Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit and Coronation RCMP.

“Neergaard had been actively evading police,” said RCMP Cpl. Gina  Slaney.

He faces charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to be in Red Deer provincial court on Oct. 31.

“RCMP would like to acknowledge that the residents of Coronation were very helpful to police and aided in the successful apprehension of Neergaard,” she said.
