CREMONA - Third-term Cremona mayor Tim Hagen has taken a medical leave of absence from his position on council for health reasons, he told the Albertan on Dec. 6.

Hagen recently had a heart attack and although he’s out of hospital and back in the community he’s decided to take the leave as part of his recovery efforts.

“I’m recuperating but I won’t be doing any mayor things or going to council meetings for the next three or four months,” he said.

“Unfortunately things happen and sometimes you have to roll with it.”

Hagen has not resigned from council.

Deputy mayor Joseph Canaday has taken over the mayoralty duties for the Village of Cremona pending Hagen’s return.

“He is stepping up,” said Hagen.
