CARSTAIRS - Two suspects, a man and a woman, are in custody following a police manhunt southwest of Carstairs Friday morning.

"Didsbury RCMP further advise that they are looking for any further suspects. There is no further threat to the public."

Shortly before 8 a.m. police issued a bulletin advising residents that officers were searching for two suspects believed to be armed west of town.

The suspects were described as a man and a woman and were believed to be on foot.

Police advised residents between Township Road 302 and Highway 580 and between Range Road 15 and Range Road 20 to shelter in place, lock their doors and call 911 with any sightings of suspicious persons.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. police issued a second release saying the suspects were in custody and had lifted the shelter in place advisory.

RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney told the Albertan that the two suspects in custody are a man and a woman.

She could not immediately provide further details, including why the suspects were being sought by police.

Police are expecting to release more information later today, she said.
