BOWDEN — New Welcome to Bowden signs are expected to be completed this week, according to chief administrative officer Greg Skotheim.

Earlier, it had been hoped they could be in place by around the end of September.

“Our new welcome entry signs to Bowden are just in construction right now,” he said during an interview. “The foundations’ been poured so now we’re moving forward with brick work, masonry and the signs (themselves).”

The signs will be installed in three locations: the entrance to the town coming in from the south on Highway 2A; on 22nd Street at Highway 587; and on the access road coming in to Bowden from Highway 2.

Expected to cost a total of about $40,000, the signs will be made of rock and brushed aluminum and will be “maintenance-free", he said.

They will replace three existing signs that are about 30 years old.

They’re being created by All-Net, a Manitoba company that is also creating the town's new website.
