PHOTOS: Full house for 2023 Barrhead Demolition Derby

Some of the entries in the 2023 Demo Derby had elaborate paint jobs as they vied to win a best-dressed contest, such as the car on the right decorated with a Super Mario theme.
Two cars collide with each other while in the ring.
A pair of trucks sideswipe each other near the side of the ring.
Firefighters throw out an old computer from the raised tower on their fire truck. This was part of an intermission show put on by the Barrhead Regional Fire Services; they ended up throwing objects like watermelons, furniture and an old quad to see how they smashed on the ground.
A table full of trophies awaits the winners at the end of the derby.

BARRHEAD —  The stands at the Barrhead Agricultural Society rodeo grounds were absolutely packed July 22 for the 2023 Barrhead Demolition Derby, as tickets were completely sold out prior to the event.

The one-day event saw a total of 15 trucks and six cars smash into each other in the ring, with Jacob Capiuk emerging as the winner of the truck final and Joe Johnston winning the car final.

The subsequent truck and car "grudge matches" were won by Lance Rayne and Jesse Ross respectively.

Following the derby, a cabaret featuring Alberta country artist Garrett Gregory was hosted at the Barrhead Agrena, which drew a smaller crowd of about 300 to 400 people.
