BONNYVILLE, Alta. - In a few hours, the former South View Motel situated on Bonnyville's Main Street was reduced to rubble.

The motel was a bustling place during the height of the oil boom in the early 2000s, but has sat boarded up and vacant along 50 Ave. and 54 St. for the last few years.

By the afternoon of Sept. 1, all that remained of the former motel were heaps of wood, drywall, an exposed concrete foundation, littered with old mattresses, TVs and night stands.

Crews are hauling the remnants of the old building off site. No notices of what the property will be transitioned into have been posted at the site.
