Man charged in Saskatchewan, Alberta thefts where ATMs were taken

Mounties say a man has been charged in a string of break and enters in which vehicles were used to smash the doors of businesses so thieves could make off with ATMs, cash registers and other goods.

RCMP say that eight break and enters between December 2019 and February 2020 caused extensive damage to buildings throughout west-central Saskatchewan and eastern Alberta.

Police say they searched a home in July in the Rural Municipality of Britannia in Saskatchewan and allege they found additional evidence related to the break-ins.

The say they also found a stolen firearm, about 1 1/2 kilograms of cannabis and 203 cannabis plants in various stages of growth.

Daniel Dean of the RM of Britannia faces four counts of break and enter, as well as firearms and drug charges, and is to be in court in Lloydminster next month.

Police say other suspects in the thefts have not been identified and are asking for the public's help.
