Independent Living Communities That Feel like a Vacation

You love your home, the neighbourhood and the community. There are memories that just can’t be duplicated anywhere else. But now the house feels empty and too big to manage.

There is the general upkeep, the lawn, the garden, the difficult winters with snow clearance and of course all the domestic daily routines. You are retired and it’s time for a change.

To remain independent means looking for a housing arrangement that would be “exclusively for older adults, in the age range of 55 and over.” For independent senior communities, this could be in an apartment setting or a single-family detached home. This community is more compact, which makes it easier to get around. There is no maintenance or yard work to worry about.

Even though you will live independently, your new community is there to provide you with a variety of services and amenities, like meals and transportation. You may be ready for this change, but it is extremely important to plan. You need time to cope with the arrangements knowing that life will be different, but easier. Change can prolong your independence and will enable you to thrive in your retirement.

Independent New Community

As you settle into your independent living facilities, you can enjoy the fact that life can be lived more freely. Life is beginning to feel like a vacation. There are no chores that need to be done, and you can focus on spending your days doing whatever you love the most.

Your community is also known as a retirement or senior community; you are now living with individuals who have a similar mindset. There are the group activities, the outings that can take place and the common areas to visit. However, your residence will remain very private.

Many if not all retirement communities have a different range of amenities, which often depend on size and location. Some of the most common are housekeeping, laundry, and transportation. Activities and being active are part of independent living. What ever your age, interests or abilities, there is something for everyone.

Vacation Atmosphere

There is a common bond that develops in a retirement community. Neighbours generally are quick to lend a hand if there is a need and solid friendships are made. Families still get together and visits with children and grandchildren are encouraged. The grounds are generally well maintained and very peaceful. The surrounding neighbourhood is equally important. Are there shopping centres, pharmacies, parks and some sport centres or even a golf course nearby?

Consider an Independent Living Community

What is active living? Everything that makes life the very best it can be! When can living independently can also feel like a vacation, we get to live life as a daily adventure.
