There are a variety of online cooking classes available in different formats and at a range of prices. You can learn basic cooking skills, how to cook for specific dietary restrictions, or even high-level baking techniques.

Atco Blue Flame Kitchen

Since 1930, Atco Blue Flame Kitchen has been known for their excellent cooking classes and recipes. Now you can take advantage of their impressive schedule of classes online. Cook along with classes like “Game Day Snacks” or “Better Baking” taught by professional chefs who can teach you some new tips and techniques. Each class comes with shopping and equipment lists so you can be prepared with everything you need. Simply log in a few minutes before class starts and cook along in real time. Online cooking classes at the Atco Blue Flame Kitchen are moderately priced around $30. Register in advance because they do sell out.

Alberta Health Services’ Wellness Kitchen

The Wellness Kitchen at Alberta Health Services’ Wellness Centre in Calgary has moved their food, nutrition, and cooking demonstrations and courses to an online format. Learn how to cook for your health or the health of the ones you care for by joining one of their targeted programs. Courses include tips and instructions on how to cook for a variety of health conditions including kidney issues, prediabetes and diabetes, fatigue, liver disease and heart disease. The Wellness Kitchen courses are taught by registered dieticians and referrals are not required. Their program listing changes every few months, so check their program guide often.

Get Cooking Culinary School

Get Cooking is an Edmonton culinary school that offers online cooking classes taught by top chefs. Each month features a full range of interesting and delicious courses like Fish Friday, Cheesy Appetizers, Decadent Desserts, and Hearty Main Dishes. Get Cooking classes are each taught by two professional chef instructors – one does the cooking while the other answers questions and engages with the students. Prices range from $35 for a 90-minute class to $135 for a bundle of three classes. On-demand classes with Get Cooking are coming soon.

On Demand Options

If you prefer the ability to pause-and-play while you are cooking along, look for an on-demand or pre-recorded cooking class. YouTube has many great cooking classes to choose from and they are all free. Mariano’s Cooking features Mariano Trivelin, an 86-year-old Edmontonian who teaches viewers how to cook delicious Italian dishes. Deddy’s Kitchen, taught by Chef Deddy Ruddock from Ontario, demonstrates a wide variety of mouth-watering Jamaican and Caribbean recipes.
