SUNDRE – The early bird registration period for the 2024-25 hockey season opened up a littler earlier than past years.
The Sundre Minor Hockey Association held its annual general meeting on Tuesday, April 30 at the Sundre Arena’s club room
Austin Fyten remains president while Amber Jenkins also maintained her position as vice-president.
Jenkins told the Albertan that the association looks forward to having a really good year, and added that the decision was made to start the early bird registration period sooner than usual.
“We opened registration a little earlier just because we want to give our members a little extra time to pay,” said Jenkins, adding the early bird ends June 1.
Above and beyond regular practices and league play, registered players will also be offered an opportunity to participate in power skating programs as well as another Power Edge Pro clinic, she said.
Provided the stars align and the municipality is able to have the ice prepared on time, the association anticipates starting the next season on Sept. 16, she said.
The association also appointed the following positions at its annual general meeting: Rebecca Rock, registrar; Breanne Wangler, secretary; James Clayton, treasurer; Aaron Johnson, league director; Kim Johnson, director of equipment; Danielle Bird, director of fundraising; director of coaching and manager, Tim Kennedy; Jim Lindberg, ice allocator; and Whitney Reid, AGLC representative.
As of the time of writing, the association still sought to fill the position of referee in chief.
